Inverter for home + recording studio [RE-wrenches]

We have been powering several audio events lately, including a stage at 
SolarFest with live folk type music, an outside dance performance with 
recorded music of many varieties, and a local blues band (three of the 
members live off grid). No hum or other problems.

In talking with David Pyles of the New England Anti Nuke Coalition, he 
relayed some info about kick drums being a problem. They apparently create 
a very large audio spike, and can trip the inverter on overload, or 
something like that. There is a cure for it, but I do not remember it, and 
it is not a problem unless you have a well amplified, snap action kick 
drum.

David Pyles seems to know quite a bit about the live music aspects of 
off-grid. He has been coordinating the work of the "Sunplugged" group 
(www.sunplugged.com, David's email adress is also there as Webmaster) which 
is a bunch of us who do outside venue with portable solar.

>From what I understand, it can also depend somewhat upon the equipment. A 
lot of the stuff has built in filters, (probably to take care of bad 
utility power!) and so is pretty forgiving.

We have an inquirie from a man who wants to use a single sine wave
inverter for home and a part-time recording studio with both digital
and analog audio equipment. His home includes power tools that need
high surge.

He already has a PV system with an old Trace mod-sine inverter. He
wants to replace it with sine wave. He doesn't want two inverters
with the associated separate wiring.

We know that the Trace SW and PS inverters have a high frequency
ripple. Do any of you guys know if that is likely to cause problems
with recording and audio equipment?
