Greetings Roy,

In response to your clients SW woes I have a couple thoughts, both of which
probably won't fix the problem (sorry).   I really agree with the comments
from Travis on grounding, which can directly damage appliances or possibly
bring about damage to and from the inverter.  Not only can grounding in two
places be a really bad idea, it can be a mistake easily made.  This is
espically true when adding a PV system to a home that is already grid
connected (and grounded),  or even one that ends up getting connected to the
grid by an electrician at a date later than the solar install (we're all
trying to follow the same code?). 

The other thing...... why do I always end up being the "loads guy"??   I
mean no offense here, but it seems from your description on the problem that
the load end of the system received less attention than it really deserves.
I've screwed up plenty, but these days, aside from the usual load profile
info, I keep a record of appliances (often complete with model and
s-numbers) and actually include most of this information in system bid
proposals.  Not only is this info helpful to the industry (Wrenches),  it
may also protect you leagally if things get really shitty.  Finally, though
we are told that everything will run on Traces SW series power, I have heard
of instances where in some devices, including some frig-defrost timer
circuits, fail.
