Lockable Disconnect [RE-wrenches]

Wrenches,

More disconnect discontent.

I would again reiterate one point.  Why are there not the same
requirements for backup fossil fuel generators if we consider auto
transfer switches unsafe?

Also, I have only had one electrical inspector in my area comment on a
disconnect switch but in this case, he was more interested in how to
shut down the system's battery bank in the event of a building fire.
"How can we protect the firemen from getting shocked when in the
building and how do they disconnect power in the event of an electrical
fire" (or something like that).  I though it was a reasonable question
considering that normally utility service is cut immediately during a
building fire.  Luckily for me, he let me slide though it started me
thinking.  Will we soon be required to place a 600 Amp 250 VDC NEMA3
switch on the outside of the building between the battery bank and the
inverter?  I'll be getting out of this business if we are!

Anybody else run into similar concerns?
