John,
I have used the T-240 on a few occasions it does help, the other thing that
I have done is to use a 2nd inverter to help charge faster. You probably
will not get full power from both chargers but it gives you a backup if
something happens to the inverter. You can use a mod sine as the 2nd
charger, the Heart Interface Freedom inverters seem to "out charge" the
Traces.

Hi all,
    I am quoting on a fairly large 48 vdc wind/solar off grid system with 16
L16P Batteries.  I am planning to use a Yamaha EF4600 generator and am
wondering if feeding the 240 from the generator into a T240 to balance the
generator and get more than the 20 amps available in the 120 socket would
make sense.  I want to minimize generator run time and with the large
battery
bank, it should be able to use close to 25 amps at 120 v to get the 60amp dc
charger output on the SW4048 and I also need more for the pass through to
run
the house loads.  Has anyone used the balancing transformer?
