Kurt,
    Several years ago I solved a Mod sine problem by wiring a capacitor 
across its output. The customer was powering a boiler. The oil gun would go 
not start unless there was a light already on (nothing to do with search mode 
however), Rob Wills schooled me on the capacitor solution.
