24-volt Photon charger vs. T-240/SW charger [RE-wrenches]

Hi Wrenches,
I'd appreciate your perspective on an install I'm about to do.
I'm replacing an old generator-inverter system (with Heart inverter) with a
SW4024, DC250, 800 watts of solar, etc. My client uses a couple generators
(Onan and China diesel), and has an old 240VAC/24VDC Photon charge
controller (which I've never heard of). Should I keep the Photon in the
system or encourage dropping a T-240 between the selected generator and the
SW gen input? For what it's worth it's uncertain at this point whether we'll
be setting up the generator remote, and which generator we'd do it on.
My client would likely balk at spending the bucks for the T-240 and extra
install time, so if I suggest this to her I need a strong case. Please fire
away--experiences, opinions?
Thank You!
Gary
