thoughts on Trace and intertie [RE-wrenches]

Hi All,

I just wanted to jump in here with my 2 cents worth as to SW /intertie performance.

Just how many of these systems are really used as battery backup?  vs just intertie.
Did the customer get the $ difference from a batteryless to a battery backup system,
including the losses of power?

My feeling is that with battery based systems we will never get the performance,
only with batteryless systems will we get the true power from the panels. These
systems are just so easy to install, they work well simple quick!!!

Of course with new MPPT controllers, sealed batteries we can improve the efficiency
of the battery based systems.

Now in regards to Trace.  I think we are all dreaming if we will get trace to "fix"
their problems.  Since they have a stangle hold on the market ( at this time) there
is little to know incentive for them to fix or update anything.  ( history shows
this to be true)

It is only going to be with the importing of inverters from Europe ( Energy
outfitters is looking at some that will just kick butt on trace).  Personally I
can't wait for a Sony inverter!!  Maybe then Trace will see the writing on the
wall.  Right now though they are so screwed up with the merger ( E-meters are now
totally hard to get, they have reduced many of the models and much of their products
are being made overseas) that I think it will be a while before they get their act
together.  In fairness to Trace when the 4024 came out it was great, but with the
pace of technology they have really fallen down.  The basic package is pretty good,
and with new software it would do much of what we want it to do.

I ask this though, who wants to be the first to use the new software?

Hang tough folks new equipment is coming that will set the intertie market on fire!!
