E-meter [RE-wrenches]

Sorry for not jumping in sooner, but I've been away on a job. I just 
got back last night to see this whole E-meter conversation.
I don't want to get stuck  in a position of defending them, even 
though I prefer it to the Trimetric, but here's some things you may 
not know.
Cruising Equipment is no more. It is now a part of Heart Interface 
which is a part of Prozaic (oops, I mean Xantrex) The Seattle 
facility was closed last June and all operations were moved into 
Heart at Kent, WA. That alone caused a two-three months nightmare of 
lost returns, no production, and no service of any kind. It's still 
pretty screwed up, but you can thank Xantrex, not CE for the problem.
If you need to talk to a techie, your best bet (until -or if- they 
get it sorted out is to call Heart at 800-446-6180 and wend your way 
thru the system. John at CV Solar is correct as to the meter power to 
pin #5. It has a 40VDC limit (actually closer to 50V), so you need to 
power it from either a 12 or 24V tap. When all else fails, read the 
directions. Bring your magnifier.
