Sunfrost noise [RE-wrenches]

	A few words in defense of the 'propane' refrigerators:
	I've lived out of one for 26 years and would need a *very* compelling
reason to change. Almost all RV-type propane refrigerators are also
gas/electric combos. When running on electric, they are virtually silent
and consume power that might otherwise be wasted in a charge controller.
The gas feature makes for a very attractive back-up power source in case of
system failure or mid-winter PV shortfalls.
	Consumption: My old unit is probably not as efficient as newer ones, but
it consumes less than 1KwH per day, or about 10 gallons of propane per
month. It does require periodic defrosting, but that might be more due to
the condition of the door seals than the design.
	Indoor air pollution: Anybody that doesn't install a petroleum-fueled
appliance in accordance  with approved instructions and codes, i.e: venting
it outdoors, is asking for a good dose of CO poisoning!
	Payback: This is a hard one, I paid $125 at a flea market. That would be,
uh, $4.80/yr. Sounds good to me. Even a new whizz-bang side-by-side RV unit
of reasonable size is going to cost only $1200 or so, this puts it in the
same cost range as the Sunfrost, eh?
	Noise: I'd have to agree, ANY continuous noise from a household appliance
is way too much!
	Durability: Zero moving parts (except the door!)
	Remember, it's also called *Appropriate* Technology. In some cases, the
old-line appliances are the most appropriate choice for the customers needs.
