Gas Dryers and Washing Machines [RE-wrenches]

The Staber uses 110 to 130 W-hrs per load, based upon full loads (18 
pounds) and a Brand meter measurement at our house. Powered from a Trace 
SW4024, in line tie sell back mode.

I like the Staber better than the Neptune for a few reasons:

Larger load capacity.
More stainless steel, and longer warranties.
Warranteed to run on inverter power.
Made to be repaired, if it needs it, by the consumer.
Very fast (extraction speed) spin cycle, shortens drying time.

And the best reason, I can buy these at wholesale, and sell at retail. Try 
and get wholesale on a Maytag, or anything else...

And the worst reason, the price is higher, and there is not enough room to 
discount the difference.

I agree with leaving the dryers out of the calcs, as they will
typically be used in the winter when solar is minimum.  We do include
the washers, however, as many of our customers do run the washers off
their systems in the summer. Wind systems, of course are the
exception.  The 100 watt-hr for the Neptune washer seems really low.
Where can we get these? I don't think the Staber could be any less.
Regarding the refrigerators, I think lots of progress can still be
made besides motor improvements. Check out the Sunfrost: two
compressors and the evaporator, top-mounted, 3-4" urethane
insulation, and lack of thermal bridges- all of this could be
incorporated into conventional units, without increasing the cost too
much.
