One other option to muddy the waters further.  If you end up with a 
high voltage DC array for either the Solarjack or Grundfos pumps, 
there is an outfit out of MN that makes true sinewave inverters with 
120, 144, 180 volts DC input.  Haven't used one yet, but the specs 
look impressive.  Let me know if you want a copy....
