Hum Hum [RE-wrenches]

OK, I know this sounds silly, but before you give up on the separate power 
supplies, try coiling any wires leading to the speakers, both power and 
audio, in a loose coil. (A Henry coil for afficianados). The coil acts as a 
dampener for stray signals, and sometimes takes out noise. Pretty cheap to 
try it!

Hello Larry

The hum is originating on the signal being delivered by the computer.
You will also have to power the computer on a clean sine wave
inverter. Try an XP500.
