Trace fans/customers' gensets [RE-wrenches]

Hi people

had the same problem with a SW3048E, the inverter tripped, heat sink
over temp, thank goodness that bit worked!

Had an AC input/output board that had suffered high AC input voltage
and was out of warranty.  Used the fans off this one as replacements
for the other one. Just cut the wires and rejoined. Am at a big
disadvantage way down here in the South Atlantic, been trying to get
service manuals etc out of Trace to make life easier but nothing yet.

On another topic - have a customer whose genset went over voltage
(about 280vac - we are nominal 230vac here) while charging.  His
SW4548E output voltage then went to 270vac and stayed there, damaging
various household appliances - he is now claiming from me for three
breadmakers, one microwave oven and a phone charger (which has already
been replaced free by supplier).  Indeed one of the breadmakers has
also been replaced free of charge.    He didn't tell me there was a
problem until all these items had gone...

What would you do about this?  when the genset is the cause of the
problem in the first place? He already owes me a large bill for
repairs to this inverter.  New control board, several visits (which
means flights and overland for me). Only charged part of the true
costs.

Without manuals I am relying on Trace for advice and diagnosis.  The
question is, if a genset goes over-voltage for whatever reason, why
does the inverter's output go to that level and stay there? with all
the potential for damage to appliances.
