Hi William,
We have changed equipment on several projects (while keeping total power
just under the original application, as you stated), and have achieved NEM2
PTO from PG&E. These were all projects sold by other contractors (with
various wacky equipment specified) which we took over because the other
contractors could not perform (went out of business, etc).
Regarding the used inverter: if the customer is ok with it, I assume no one
else needs to know that it's used. However, one concern with PG&E is that
the inverter model number needs current grid support / Rule 21 / 1741 SB
listing. That's one thing they will for sure get hung up on, so it may
require you to switch to a new(er) inverter.
