[RE-wrenches] charging a 2017 Chevy Volt off-grid

Check the outlet with an ammeter and a hair dryer. You need a load!  
Make sure the current is correct and not a neutral issue of the inverter 
or wiring.

I have a hair dryer that I know the current on. I also use this in split 
phase to make sure the 2 legs add to the correct current. Test that 
there is not a parallel path or earthing issue. If there is you will get 
a lower than normal reading of current.

  	* On the circuit, place one probe of a voltmeter on the active 
conductor (load side of the RCD or circuit breaker).
  	* Place the other probe on the main panel neutral bar. You should see 
your 120vac. This will show neutral continuity.
