I think the key phrase in 705.12(E) is "for such applications." They are likely
referring to grid-interactive inverters that are not configured as hybrid
inverters with grid-forming capability. You could install Sol-Arks that are
simply grid-tied with no batteries without using breaker hold-downs, but if they
use energy storage, that is a different "application."
For the load output of multiple Sol-Ark inverters, I do not believe there is any
requirement that each one lands on a circuit breaker. You can combine them with
a power distribution block or Polaris taps or other means, and land the combined
inverter output on a single circuit breaker that is fastened (if required,
depending on the application).
At least that's my reading of it.
