I have been working with Arctic https://www.arcticheatpumps.com/ for a couple of years on slab only radiant heat & cooling. Back up depending on climate is one issue: grid tied is not a problem electric works fine. The first house I did they installed 200 amp service before I was involved & had to upgrade to 400 Amp service. Lesson one - Have you plan together before you start to build. Double check that your electric service can handle the 40A for 1 heat pump & 100A for the back up tank heaters. You can see where the 400A service comes in quickly.
Off grid LPG boiler as a backup or oversize the heat pumps.
I recommend a back up source of heat - If something can fail & it can freeze at some point in time, it will.

That Said it's a lot of standard plumbing & a 100% fill with 40% concentration fill with glycol. I am not sure that I would recommend it as a DIY system though I think that they do present it as such.

I have not done a mini split but have assisted family out of state pick thru various proposals to install at their home.
