[RE-wrenches] Bench Testing RSDs

Friends:

I am repairing a system installed by others. The production is far below
what I calculated it should be and what it used to produce before being
worked on. The string voltages and currents do not makes sense with the
number of panels on each string.

The system has NEP PVG-2 smart rapid shut-down devices. 13 of 18 are
reporting. It turns out the missing 5 were never programmed into the
monitor.

Three of the PVG-2s on one string were reporting with zero watts. Other
PVG-2s on the same string were reporting power production. All modules
tested good for Voc and Isc. This of course makes no sense that some RSDs
on a string would produce no power and others did report power production.
I suspect bad RSDs.

To unravel this mystery I want to bench test the RSDs. I bought a PVG-T
tester. It is used to test strings after installation. Is it possible I
can test a string of one RSD on the bench? I would input into PV input 1
from a bench power supply and test for voltage at the string output
connectors.

Has anyone tried this?

Thanks in advance.
