For example if you have an array facing south then the east and west most module in each row MUST HAVE AN EXTRA OR A THIRD RAIL ! This prevents peeling , also use a five pattern INSTEAD OF A four pattern that ties all the trusts together , a four pattern skips every other trust . If modules are raise on struts ALL END MODULES SHOULD HAVE 11/2 sets of mounting hardware ON EACH END module and be cross braced on the struts in an X pattern to the bottom AND top of the adjacent module's two struts so that all five struts ( 3 on the end module ) and the two on the adjacent module are tied front and back of ALL the back struts with two L bar 3/16 thick rails in the X pattern with 5/16 SS bolts . >> PS : Do not blame the module manufacturer it is always the responsibility to look for the worst scenario possible i.e. The Record Storm at the sites history , then up it .15% . Also use common sense which is now a super power ! I have seen people using clamps alone on modules just attached to the seems of metal roofs WITHOUT A RAIL TO TIE IT ALL TOGETHER ! Rails should always be tied to metal roofs and THEN each module clamped to the rails . Uneven expansion and contraction on metal roofs leads to a disaster waiting to happen in rails are not used . Mounting the array is the most important part of the contracting A) no leaks B ) no wind or storm damage . You have nothing to do with anything else except aesthetics . 90 % is no leaks and no wind damage . Esthetics is 10 % . The modules make the electricity not the contractor , wiring professionally should be a given . Roofing work is what separates a Solar Contractor from an electrician in Florida . Only CVC solar licenses and Roofers are allowed to attach modules to a roof . An Electrician has to use a roofer in Florida or a CVC Solar Contractor unless the electrician is doing a ground mount .
