[RE-wrenches] FW: Solmetric News - SunEye Discontinued

Hi Eric; There was a recent thread here about that, I can't seem to find
it. But the consensus was that the "replacement" is the digital Google
SunRoof Project, using overhead imaging for X-Y axis data combined with
Streetview for Z axis data to estimate obstruction heights, and it only
works in a limited number of urban areas, leaving us remote off-grid
installers with just the old Pathfinder and SunEyes with shot batteries (I
have one of the old ones that has the iPaq PDA attached to the unit and
bluetooth GPS, if anyone remembers those).

Week after next I will be tasking my college PV installer class with
comparing data from the Pathfinder, old Suneye and the Solar Shading app
from Comoving Magnetics on an Android phone with a panning tripod adaptor.
Their class assignment will be to crunch their data and compare accuracy.
We'll make it all available online.

Best regards;
