Wrenches,
Section 64 of the 2015 Canadian Electrical Code covers Renewable Energy
Systems.
Rule 64-800(3) states...

   1.

Storage batteries for dwelling units shall have the cells connected so
as to operate at less than 50 V nominal.

Note the word "for". It appears that this rule may restrict the use of
higher voltage lithium ion batteries (PowerWall and similar Panasonic home
storage that i've heard of) FOR dwellings regardless of where it is
installed (detached or attached garage or even a separate shed)

Based on the short text that i've included, does anyone interpret it
differently or know of another rule in the CEC that may be a work-around?

For the NEC'ers... i only have a copy of the 2011 NEC and haven't read it
cover to cover yet ;) but is there a similar rule in there regarding
storage battery voltage FOR dwellings?

Thanks
