Hi Drake,

I'm happy to discuss the ins-and-outs of this with you by phone. My cell phone is listed below. I have installed AC Coupled systems using Outback GVFX inverters and a 120-240 transformer. My experience is that this works fine. We have published a basic document on this, which is primarily focused on the major pitfalls;- Protect the batteries from overcharging- Don't exceed the pass through limit of the GVFX inverter- Don't allow the Enphase microinverters to connect directly to the output of a generator

With the Outback GVFX inverters, I would recommend using the auxiliary relay of the Outback inverter to shut-off the microinverters with a relay when the batteries are charged.

The tech brief on AC Coupling is available under the tab for Tech Briefs at; [ http://enphase.com/global/resources/geo_us/ ]( http://enphase.com/global/resources/geo_us/ )

Hello Wrenches,

We put a system in a year ago with an Outback GVFX 3524 with 2205 W of PV and a Midnite Solar Classic CC. The system owner would now like to expand the system by another 6 modules.

Our tentative plan is to AC couple 6 Enphase M-215s powered by 6 REC 255 W modules to the Outback. This way, the GVFX 3524 would be selling power on its own while simultaneously feeding power back into the grid through its transfer switch.

The plan is to drop the voltage to 120 V using an autotransformer before feeding the power into the protected loads panel for AC coupling.

Has anyone tried this configuration? Can anyone see any problems?

 Thanks,

 Drake
