Power One does not eliminate the gateway. The just connect to it by wifi.

Any updated impressions of this product? I'm starting to see an uptick in these being sold by competitors.

One thing that would be nice is if they eliminated the gateway, allowing each inverter to connect to the Internet by Wi-Fi. This would eliminate the extra piece of hardware, and the possibility of the gateway device failing in the future. Understandably, this would probably increase the inverter price, but for small installations, it would be more cost effective I would think.

I have 9 of the PowerOne microinverters on the roof of the old AEE building, running for a few months. They work great so far. I like the monitoring. It connects to the inverters by WiFi. I don't think they are selling them yet.
Here is a link to the on-line monitoring. https://www.auroravision.net/dash/V2/assets/plantSummary.jsf#1212906

Hi Bruce,

I haven't received much feedback from the group yet on the Power One Microinverters. Marco was in-progress on a job with them and was going to get back to me off list after completion.

I'm weary about the wireless communication because wireless always seems to break down at one point or another over the long haul. However, I should reiterate that I have no experience with this product yet.

Best, August

Hi August. I'm curious about these inverters as well. Have you learned anything outside of the Wrenches list about their track record?

Take care.

Hi Wrenches -

Has anyone tried out the new Power One microinverters?

Seems like a similar concept to Enphase M215 as far as the trunk cabling goes. However, their monitoring device called "Aurora CDD" communicates wirelessly with the microinverters compared to power line communications with Enphase. They also seem to be at a higher price point compared to Enphase although they are higher wattage at 250 and 300 Watts.

Best,

August
