[RE-wrenches] Best practices for comp shingle flashing?

Eric, 
you can purchase L-foot brackets of varying heights upwards of 7" from several PV racking mfgrs. 
You are not limited by the height of the flashing bolt or post. 
Check DPW's catalogue for example.
