Don’t you have to be a licensed electrician as part of the prereqs to sit for the test?

I took the UL/NFPA class in Atlantic City last spring... thinking it might make another useful tool in the tool box (especially if I could get some kind of recognition from UL).. I was not impressed. The presentation was ambiguous, confusing and sometimes downright misleading. I got more useful information from Bill Nye the Science Guy.. and no certification. Beware the Rabbit Hole.

Have any of you wrenches noticed the UL certification for PV installer?
Anyone take the test? I wonder 2 things, is it a solar puzzle test like NABCEP, and is there a legit experience well above 2 installs for c-10s?

It would be pretty great if they prepared you for some finer engineering knowledge of solar equipment, and electonics of the engineered components of the solar components, however it seems like it might be a pretty simple trades knowledge cert from the description.

clue me in if you would wrenches.

cheers,

nick vida
