William,
Wouldn't you want to specify what kind of battery chemistry?
How often are you able to inspect this battery/generator system?
If you choose SLA battery, will you have consistently good insolation for year round charging? If not, you are saving a bit of initial cost and potentially (questionable IMHO) better reliability at the potential expense of longer battery life.
Is that a good trade-off?

Subject: [RE-wrenches] Trickle charge a generator cranking battery?
Friends:
Ii it possible, with the correct module, to trickle charge a generator cranking battery without the use of a charge controller? What modules fit this criteria?
Thanks in advance.
William
