[RE-wrenches] Old Nicads

Hello Wrenches,
A friend was given some old Nicads (ED 160s). These are single cell
batteries that are roughly 16" tall, but much smaller than an L-16 in
the other dimensions. After being used for an unknown amount of
time, they were stored in a barn for 10 years with no maintenance.
If these were lead acid batteries, they would clearly be scrap. Is
there any chance that these could be any good? If so, what steps
should be taken to get them out of mothballs?
