Hi folks --
The document that Joel references has been the comprehensive standard
for all such seminars and articles for four years now. Rodney
Slaughter's work on this is superb.

However, it's not a class that a PV installer can easily teach to the
local fire department, especially a volunteer department. You the PV
installer / lecturer will generally have at most only one or two hours
to teach critical safety information to firefighters whose electrical
knowledge may only go so far as 'pull the meter upon arrival on scene.'

Please contact me off list for more information.

I’ve been tasked with helping put together a training seminar on safely
dealing with PV systems during firefighting for our local volunteer fire
department here. I recall wrenches talking about publications that had
articles on this subject. I’d appreciate a link to these sources.

Also, I’m curious if there are any concerns with solar thermal systems
during house fires? Should fire departments take any extra precautions
when responding to fires at homes with SHW collectors during a sunny
afternoon?
