This is a repeat call to those who (1) use or plan to use NREL's Solar
Advisor Module and (2) would like to form a "user's group" to share
experiences, helpful hints, and perhaps lobby NREL for new and/or improved
features.
So far Joel Davidson has expressed an interest. Any others interested? If
so, please contact Joel and me off-line.
I have just begun to use SAM and I am fairly happy with it - so far, but I
have one question:
"We would like to compare LCOE with a "do nothing option". In other words,
we want to show a potential customer what the LCOE is for a PV System
COMPARED with "doing nothing" for the next 20 years - just buying
electricity from the utility as always."
So, for example if LCOE is $0.18/kWh and current utility rates are
$0.16/kWh, the investment doesn't look so god. But if we can do LCOE on the
"do nothing" option, I am sure it will come back way over $0.16/kWh. I guess
I can kludge something together using Excel, but it would be great if we
could do it in SAM.
