[RE-wrenches] fire safety vs. fire hysteria?

I have never done it, but does anyone know how to post on SNOPES.com?

It is good to see several people are trying to put out this fire (pun). Unfortunately, the internet's memory is almost impossible to purge. I think that the best corrective action is to ask fire safety people to speak up and say "No, that's not true" each time any incorrect info pops up.
