[RE-wrenches] Metal roof support flashing

Has anyone ever heard of a standing seam roof actually being damaged or
coming loose from a PV array mounted with S-5! clips? We have just sold a
few jobs on 2:12, galvalume, s.s. roofs that are 20-30 years old and I just
had a structural P.E. look at them today and his feeling is that, even
though he can't tell how the frequent or stout the connections are, he
thinks the S-5! clips should be fine. He is going to run some calculations
but thinks that we should even be able to tilt the modules to 25 degrees.
The basic wind speed is 90 mph.

Are worries about standing seam roof connections unfounded or is it time for
me to get a new P.E.?

"Don't get me wrong: I love nuclear energy! It's just that I prefer fusion
to fission. And it just so happens that there's an enormous fusion reactor
safely banked a few million miles from us. It delivers more than we could
ever use in just about 8 minutes. And it's wireless!"
