The MATE is not responsible for the measurement - it simply shows the measurement and errors that the inverter reports. So I don't see how it could be the cause of your problem. 

There are a number of things to check on this - such as what the AC volt meter of the inverter says versus a good handheld volt meter - especially while the inverter is selling. If the AC wire is small or to long then there can be excessive voltage rise when the inverter is selling - but not while in the five minute delay period. 

Where you seeing the inverter cycle? Start selling and then stop in a minute or so? That's usually the problem caused by this sutuation.
