[RE-wrenches] Mounting to metal roofs and thermal expansion

I was wondering what issues people have had screwing/bolting mounting
feet to a metal roof with thermal expansion.

I was looking at a european roof mounting foot and noticed they cut a
hole in the metal roof, and screw the foot to the sheathing using a
rubber gasket to make a water tight seal to the metal roof.
