Mick partly agrees: If we fool the Magnum system and tell it that the
battery is 800 amp hours, the absorption charge would continue for up to 180
minutes (if the client can stand to let the generator run that long). Also:
the Magnum Battery Monitor would be satisfied to reset if the "return amps"
drops to 800 X .02 = 16 amps. Those differences seem likely to help force the
fuel gauge to reset.
However: If the Magnum system thinks that we have an 800 amp hour battery,
the percentage readout will be skewed to the high side. That's a problem with
having everything integrated into one network: it's not easy to fool part of
the system without fooling all of the system.
thinking...instead of asking my client to fool the Magnum system with a 2X
battery overstatement, I'll instead ask him to reinstate a bulk charge right
after the inverter/charger goes into float (by removing then restoring
generator AC). Then I'll ask the client to watch the DC amps and we'll need to
see that go as low as eight amps while hoping for the reset to occur.
