Shorting a PV array will not cause the modules to dissipate any
additional heat and will not help prevent or remove hoar frost. When PV
panels are left open circuit they reach their maximum temperature.
Operating at maximum output power the temperature drops 1 or 2 degrees
Celsius because part of the incident energy striking the module (only 10
to 15%) is being moved to the load. Except for the small amount of
energy dissipated in the wires (where it won't help the hoar frost
situation), essentially no energy is being moved in short circuit
condition, a shorted module will behave almost exactly the same as an
open circuit module.
Just be patient and old Sol will take care of the hoar frost.
