Darryl -

Paralleling two shunts with the FNDC does not require recalibration of the data as long as two of the FNDC's channels are connected to the shunts.

Paralleling two shunts and connecting it to one channel of the FNDC will not work properly - the load current will appear to be half of the correct level. This will result in the incorrect calculation of the battery start of charge as well.

I did some checking and there are 1000 amp / 100 millivolt shunts available - AEE lists them in their catalog actually. These are what is called a "C" size shunt - at least twice a big as the normal "B" size we included with the FW1000-DC and has the 1/2 inch bolts for connection. The mounting holes are different as well.

For really large systems - you can actually parallel three shunts together and have all three channels of the FNDC connected to it - this would give about 2000 amps of measurement (or so). Each channel can measure up to 1000 amps - so it gives a total current of 3000 amps.
