Alkaline battery opinions wanted [RE-wrenches]

NiFe batteries are notoriously inneficient, on the order of 60-70% at best.

We replaced an old NiCad system (with the pocket plates) a few years ago, 
and the cost of getting rid of the Cadmium batteries was more than the cost 
of the new Surrette batteries, since Cd is so hazardous.
