I agree with Christoper. I also add that mechanical switch contacts
rated at X Vac will have about the same arc potential (equivalent amp
rating) at 1/2X VDC. Therefore, a common 125VAC (contacts rating)
relay should work fine at the normal range of 48V system, especially
with oversized contacts.
To confirm this, look at relay specs. They usually do show DC voltage
ratings being about half that of their AC ratings. In that case, you
are really covered.
