three battery-based inverters? [RE-wrenches]

Wrenches,

In a battery-based system have any of you used three inverters in a 120/240
configuration with an autotransformer to help balance the capacity between
the two legs? We've recently considered a couple designs where desired
inverter capacity points to three inverters, and four feels pretty
excessive. It seems that XW would be convenient in this case with built in
split-phase output from each inverter. In the past I have pushed for four
inverters if budget allows, but I'm interested to know what your experience
and thoughts are.
