We can't argue with that historical fact. But, as anyone who has 
traveled to Japan or other exporting Asian or European country can 
attest, they keep the best for themselves and export the rest. 
PV would be a poster child for that strategy.
Many of us are old enough to remember American troops returning from the 
Vietnam War received several weeks of R&R in Japan before coming back 
onto American soil. Remember how many brought home cameras, stereo 
systems, cookware and other high tech consumer items not available here. 
Then the cars came. 
But that is not a very Wrench-like topic so I'll leave it at that.
