Hello Wrenches,

This is just a quick update on the Sunny Boy that shuts down,
theoretically when the grid fluctuates.

This unit feeds through the transfer switch of a Sunny Island, and AC
couples with it when the grid is down. With the grid disconnected,
the Sunny Boy works flawlessly, charging batteries through the Sunny
Island and feeding a sub panel for backup loads.

There is some extra complexity to the system since the Sunny Boy
output is stepped down to 120 volts via an Outback transformer, then
feeds through the transfer switch of the Sunny Island. The
transformer seems to be working correctly and the transfer switch on
the SI shouldn't add a lot of resistance. The system is hooked up to
SMA specifications.

The wire to the service panel is oversized (#6) to allow 60 amps to
feed in to the Sunny Island. The grid has been measured at around
126 volts lately, and the inverter stays on line at that
voltage. There is no difference in the voltage recorded at the
output of the Sunny Boy when it is switched off.

The utility has agreed to monitor the grid voltage for awhile.

Drake
