warranty issues [RE-wrenches]

Interesting conversations.

I am lucky to operate in a dense urban area with a population friendly to
PV.

My jobs are all within a half hour of home.

I would imagine that the vast share of the inverter market is going to just
such a demographic.

I could imagine inverter manufactures be more friendly to those who serve
such dense urban area grid-dependent markets where warranty repair travel is
limited.

If I have my business in CA and choose to install in Nevada or Colorado, do
I deserve a sympathetic ear from a manufacture with regard to re-imbursing
travel time.

It's a tough nut, but I'll say it again, don't buy the cheap stuff.

Subject: warranty issues [RE-wrenches]

With the California Solar Initiative requiring bumper-to-bumper 10-year
warranties from the PV system provider, what are you CA. wrenches doing to
calculate the cost of that warranty? That is, what are you charging your
customers to cover your popos for being on the hook for ten years? Warranty
issues are a huge unknown in my opinion as more and more PV systems go in
across our land. I mean, what if our inverter and module manufacturer
friends decide to play hardball with this or that type of warranty claim?
That means that the integrator is ultimately responsible, right? I don't
know about you all, but even five-year warranties scare me and a ten-year
warranty makes want to head to beach and hang in hammock....

Thanks,
Marco
