Thanks Jim,

You confirm my contention that the switch is a utility requirement not a
code requirement.

Here is a link to the PG&E website with the notice regarding their new
policy.

The notice start follow:

"In response to your requests and in support of the California Solar
Initiative, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has modified its policy
regarding the installation of an AC disconnect switch on inverter-based
generation systems."

Seems like SDGE ought to get on board with the wave of good solar fun and
modify their requirement as well.  Also seems like the CPUC/CSI ought to be
able to pressure the Project Administrators to bring consistency to these
types of requirements.

In San Diego Gas & Electric territory, the utility requires a lockable open
AC disconnect accessible to the utility and preferably close to the meter.
Not an AHJ requirement, but a utility requirement for interconnect.
