Ian, an electric instant heater that modulates? You want the Stiebel-Eltron.
http://www.stiebel-eltron-usa.com/products.html German manufactured with a
North American distributor and warehouse. Quality stuff. They make a variety
of sizes from handwashing to large multi-fixture whole house units. All but
the smallest unit feature a front panel temperature dial. Set the temp you
want, it won't deviate more than a couple degrees with variable flow (once
you get past the minimum flow rate, which varies with model). Elements are
240v/50A, with one, two, or three elements per heater. Figure 10kW per
element...

I've been using their smallest handwashing unit in my shop for 4-5 years, no
problems, other than 3kW doesn't go far in water heating, but it beats ice
cold in the winter.

Cheers,
Doug Pratt

Daryl's messages are always a total blank for me too.
