Off-grid with Diesels? [RE-wrenches]

I am amazed at the depth of knowledge we get from Daryl!  I am learning a
lot (and pasting away the cheat sheets in my own files).  It seems that it
DOES make sense in some 24/7 diesel situations to simply add PV to cut
diesel consumption (again... depending on the application, load size and
budget).

Assuming that a battery based system to shut the diesel down periodically is
not appropriate... my original post that started this thread remains:  Has
anyone heard of or have recommendations for using "off the shelf" grid tie
inverters on a diesel grid?  Inverter manufactures feel free to chime in
here...  

Would we need a software version with a wider window?
