extra MC wire [RE-wrenches]

I imagine we have the latest Code Corner to thank for the recent up tick in
interest in wire management. I personally would not categorically rule out
the possibility that a good grade cable tie could remain in service for many
decades in many applications. Of course, I install in the San Francisco Bay
Area which is a mild climate. I noticed that McMaster Carr offers a
polypropylene cable to for use in parching environments. I have yet to find
out if it is also UV rated.

The metal module clips are also serviceable in my mind.

Two interesting issues come to mind when thinking about this though.

Mr. Wiles goes to pains in his article to show that he uses a metal strap
WITH a rubber cushion. Can we infer from this that the metal strap alone is
not sufficient. If so, how can we accept the metal only module clips as
sufficient.

Also, I do not use cable ties exclusively for binding the excess pigtail
cable. I also use cable ties to manage the homerun wires leading off the
roof. McMaster also offers an nylon coated stainless steel cable tie at
$5.00 a pop.

Where is all this leading?

P.S. Thanks Todd for the part call out.

The galvanized spring steel clips are definitely the ticket. They go on
faster than cable ties, and there's no way a plastic cable tie, UV-resistant
or otherwise, is going to last 20 to 40 years like the rest of the array. At
25 cents each you can afford the good stuff.
