Erroneous error reporting in Outback inverters [RE-wrenches]

Friends:

Outback software can initiate erroneous error messages.  A few years ago, 
while repairing a poorly installed Outback system we  witnessed repeated 
"AC Output shorted"  errors on an Outback system.  It turns out the 
original installer had used marginal crimp fittings on the battery leads, 
resulting in a momentary drop in DC input voltage to the inverters during 
motor load startup.  There was no AC short circuit.

Just yesterday, in rewiring a customer installed system, we saw "High 
Battery Voltage" error indications.  The real problem, AC input shorted to 
output.
