Friends:
Outback software can initiate erroneous error messages. A few years ago,
while repairing a poorly installed Outback system we witnessed repeated
"AC Output shorted" errors on an Outback system. It turns out the
original installer had used marginal crimp fittings on the battery leads,
resulting in a momentary drop in DC input voltage to the inverters during
motor load startup. There was no AC short circuit.
Just yesterday, in rewiring a customer installed system, we saw "High
Battery Voltage" error indications. The real problem, AC input shorted to
output.
