DC current meters [RE-wrenches]

Wrenches - I'm in the market for a multimeter that can measure DC
current.  There was a brief discussion on the Fluke 345 a while ago
and it looks awesome but for those of us with more... ahem... modest
budgets the $1500 price tag (even on ebay!) is a deal breaker.  The
option I am leaning towards is the Fluke i410 AC/DC current clamp with
a Fluke 189 DMM.  Has anyone used this combination?  How about any
other sub-$500 means of measuring DC current?
