SunWorld and SunTech Modules? [RE-wrenches]

August,
Here is a heads up on an issue we had with Suntech modules. Normally,
the warranty info comes included with the module but with our first
shipment there was no documentation.

We received the warranty information from our supplier and we are still
waiting for the instruction documentation. It says that the product
return and customs clearance costs are not covered and that all
correspondence is done directly with Suntech in China.

Unless you work this out upfront with your supplier or disclose this to
your customer, the interpretation of what happens in the event of a
claim appears to be an issue. Does anybody have direct experience with
this?

In several cases we had defective BP modules and it costs us over $100
to have them returned to BP. These are costs that we had to eat.
Fortunately the destination was close to New Mexico.

Supposedly Sun Tech just recently (past couple of weeks) got UL, so we
are going to order a few and take a look at them.

  Hi August,
I have imported and used Suntech panels here in
NZ. I
found them perfectly good BUT to my knowledge they were still seeking
UL
approvals so there may be some issues in your market. Thye have TuV
  approval for use in Germany.

I have had some problems getting response from the factory and one
order
was supplied with Grade 2 cosmetic defects (without a price
adjustment) so
there could be some supply reliability issues. They just don't answer
emails if the answer is going to be negative!

  Cheers,
