Jeff,
ILSCO makes an inline waterproof splice that is rated for copper and
aluminum and UL listed. Whatever splice you use has to be direct burial
rated. Part number is USPA-350SS-DB.

Hi Travis,
Yes I'm familiar with the Polaris and Burndies etc. - use them all
the time. Basically the same as what I described but more expensive.
They are basically a dual rated (Cu/AL) butt connector with
insulation and anti-corrosives in them.
What I was looking for was any ways that folks use to ensure no
corrosion even with these dual rated connectors.
